January 7, 2024, Romans 6:1-22, "Gaining Victory Over Sin" (Full)

Isaiah 66:3, Only believers gain the "3rd" conscience from the Holy Spirit. Otherwise, there is only a way that seems right to each person, where such people will do as they think or perceive. Example: some people may believe that their offerings are sufficient, and they will continue to make offerings (slaying the animals and spilling their blood, as if they were joyfully murdering actual fellow humans instead) without being aware of the root of their sin.

Romans 6:1-5, The conflict between the natural nature of man versus the inner spirit or "3rd conscience".

Hebrews 12:1, the sin that so easily ensnares believers

Romans 6:6-7, Romans 6:9, Romans 6:16, 'knowing this', 'knowing that', 'know ye not[?]', what is the sin or how can someone be knowledgeable of their sin, so they may repent? If they are never aware of the sin, how can they know that they have sinned?

Romans 6:11-12, from knowledge to application: the Holy Spirit convicts believers of sin so that they may know it and then be able to start repenting. But can believers repent without the help of the Holy Spirit (also God)?

James 1:14-15, the progress and transition into sin

Romans 6:6-11, Romans 6:12-13, the progression and transition of turning away from the slavery of sin, no longer willingly surrendering the body and mind to that slavery, and returning to God (by the help and grace of God), as if being alive from the dead (as if also having once been crucified and buried with Christ)

Romans 6:16-17, from knowledge to reckoning, to yielding (to God), and then to obedience (to God).
Romans 6:17, once '[WERE] servants of sin', but having 'obey[ED] that form of doctrine delivered by the [news/messages/Spirit of God]'; the proverbial "heart transplant" by God, should make it easier for the believer to obey God over time

Romans 6:18-19, Paul reminding sinners (who are believers) to not return to the slavery of sin (if they are believers). The expectation is that believers may have the freedom and power from God to repent. There is no similar expectation for non-believers (until they are set free, they cannot be free).

Romans 6:20-21, what was the end of all things living under the slavery of sin? First needless suffering and then finally death. Freedom in hell was not real freedom.

Romans 6:22-23, therefore, what is the end of all things living under God?

Hebrews 4:14-16, leaving sins at the throne of grace. If God did not have sympathy, then there would be no such pathway to set everything right again.

2 Corinthians 6:17, it is okay to come out of the darkness and come to the Lord

Isaiah 1:16-18, let us come to God and reason with Him so that we may know how bad we are, let Him take away our illusions of good intentions and illusions of charity, let Him help us reform ourselves therefore, so we do not any longer oppress the oppressed, the fatherless, and the vulnerable widows. Though great pains were taken to reform, in the end all the sins will be washed away.
