Special Counsel Jack Smith wants the DC appeals court to not hear any motions and to drop any decision on whether former President Donald Trump had presidential immunity for the Jan. 6 case. This could have sweeping impacts—not only on the many criminal charges against President Trump, but also on potential future charges against President Joe Biden and other former presidents. This is currently going to the U.S. Court of Appeals in DC, and oral arguments on the case are set for Jan. 9.
