A photographer in Wyoming was up for a big surprise when she stumbled across a bizarre wall of snow that appeared to be moving towards her. This phenomenon is described as a 'ghost snow tsunami' and is actually created when a rare light and wind cause mesmerizing mirage on the horizon. Watch as the stunning display of ghost wave dissipates as the wind changes direction. Amazing!

Ariel McGlothin was hoping to film local wildlife in action when she stumbled upon harsh winter conditions in Kelly, Wyoming. Little did she know that she was about to witness this incredibly rare spectacle. Magical!

Footage shows a huge wall of icy powder reflecting a strange mirage formed as the sun highlights snow crystals moving in the blistering breeze, looking like moving ghostly waves crashing against a shoreline. Would you believe your eyes!?

This talented photographer explains that the haunting and yet satisfying display lasted for several minutes as the virtually translucent 'waves' continued to flow forward in a fearsome flurry. This spectacular out-of-this-earth phenomenon left the thirty-year-old with mixed feelings of delight and fear for should she flee in case this was a tsunami.

Ariel, originally from Pennsylvania, who recently uploaded the clip from April 14th, said: “It was a pretty amazing experience.“The appearance of a rolling and crashing wave was so convincing in its appearance, I really thought it was coming towards me – I kept thinking that I needed to flee”.

This courageous girl admits that she had never personally experienced all the conditions lining up to create this appearance before and confirms that the feeling was truly magical!

“I watched it for about 15 minutes or so until the angle of the light changed and the whole phenomenon just disappeared.“In hindsight, I feel very lucky to have seen this and don’t know if I’ll ever be lucky enough to be in exactly the right place at the right time every again.“It was a very special experience.” wrapps up Ariel. What a lucky girl to have seen wonderland!
