A tribute was held in Berlin’s Breitscheidplatz on December 19 to mark the first anniversary of the city’s Christmas market attack. This footage shows people at the square, listening to the bell of Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church ringing to commemorate the attack’s victims. Twelve people were killed and 56 others injured when a truck plowed through crowds in the square. Angela Merkel was present at the event, and German magazine Der Spiegel quoted her as saying: “Today is a day for mourning but also a day for the determination of making things better that did not work [in the past].” Credit: Instagram/mon_dieu_monsieur via Storyful
