Bus Crash Kills International Tourists in Mahahual

A tour bus flipped over on the Mahahual-Cafetal highway in Mahahual, Mexico, on December 19, killing 11 cruise ship passengers and a guide who were on on their way to visit the Chacchoben Ruins. In a press release, the Government of the State of Quintana Roo stated that of the 31 people aboard the bus, 18 were injured and 12 were killed. Authorities had yet to confirm the nationalities of the deceased, but American, Swedish, Italian and Brazilian nationals were reported to have been aboard the bus.
