Man's death ruled homicide following possible home invasion on Indy's west side

A man's death was ruled a homicide following a possible home invasion early Tuesday morning on Indianapolis' west side. The incident happened around 1 a.m., in the 300 block of N. Mickley Avenue. Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called on reports that a person was down inside a house. The 52-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. He's been identified as 52-year-old James Thornton. The Marion County Coroner says Thornton died from multiple blunt force traumatic injuries.
