This Pakistani stuntman is able to swallow five 30 inch long swords in one fell swoop and come out unscathed. Javaid Iqbal Mastana, 53, is a leader of Farzad circus and performs the jaw-dropping stunts to make a living.

Javaid claims he can swallow seventeen 2.5 ft long and one-inch-wide swords all in one go and perfectly balance three metal glasses on the hilts. The father of five from Narowal city in Punjab province boasts how he has never been hurt, ever since he has been performing the frightening acts at the age of 12.

The former circus performer says he learned the tricks from his grandfather who also performed in circus shows. The man agreed to teach his grandson the trick when he turned 12, by first putting a stick down his throat. “Surprisingly, I didn’t vomit." says Mastana. “Then, he taught me to put the sword in the mouth."

At his peak, Mastana was able to make anywhere between $400 to $800 a month, enough to run the affairs in his household. But the modern ways of entertainment have led to steady dwindling of the circus business. Plus, local authorities have stopped giving permission to such circuses because of the wild animals they carry in captivity.

The daredevil now wishes that the government would step forward and help performers like him to revive the circus.
