Shoppers were startled in Escazu, west of Costa Rica’s capital San Jose, as a magnitude 6.5 earthquake hit southeast of Jaco the evening of Sunday, November 12. Bangs can be heard in a Walmart supermarket, as seen in this video taken by journalist Oscar Ulloa. No injuries were reported but some people in Alajuela and Orotina were without power, according to La Nacion. Costa Rica Public Force reported landslides on roads between Jaco and Tarcoles, while President Luis Guillermo Solis ruled out tsunami threats. Credit: Facebook/Oscar Ulloa via Storyful
