Hundreds of thousands of Catalonians marched down Carrera de la Marina in Barcelona on November 11 to protest in favor of independence from Spain and to demand that jailed politicians and organizers be freed. Eight politicians and two activist-organizers were detained by the Spanish government on November 2 following a court ruling that an October independence referendum was illegal. Among those being held in prison are former Deputy Vice President Oriol Junqueras and Interior Minister Joaquim Forn. The leaders were detained for alleged rebellion, sedition and misuse of public funds, according to a BBC report. Credit: Twitter/Michelle Downey via Storyful
