First flown in 1935, the Hawker Hurricane was a monoplane, single-seat fighter in service with the British Royal Air Force (RAF) at the start of World War Two. Although somewhat overshadowed by the Supermarine Spitfire during the BATTLE OF BRITAIN, it is nonetheless estimated that RAF Hurricanes inflicted around 60% of the damage sustained by the Luftwaffe during the battle. This fearsome British fighter plane was also exported around the world and saw extensive combat service during the Second World War. Today’s AVIATION ART release depicts a flight of RAF Hurricanes high above the desert during the North Africa campaign of WW2. Enjoy!
