On Sunday, November 12th, a few hundred pro-Israel demonstrators showed up to one of Chicago’s north suburbs to show their solidarity with genocide.

Mainstream media immediately equated its size to that of another, much bigger rally in downtown Chicago. There, thousands marched from Water Tower and down Michigan Avenue demanding that the state's congressional delegation vote for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Large-scale rallies for Palestinians have become a regular feature over the last month. Palestinians make up about 60% of the Arab Americans living in Chicago, with about 85,000 residents.

The rising death toll in Gaza is devastating: in 5 weeks, Israel has killed over 11,000 Palestinians, half of them children. Protesters who gathered along the Magnificent Mile called for the U.S. to stop backing Israel in its genocide.
