Fiery barricades blocked roads around Kisumu, Kenya, on October 25, the night before a presidential election that many opposition supporters planned to boycott. Stone-throwing youths in the city were met by live rounds, tear gas and water cannon, Reuters reported. The incumbent, Uhuru Kenyatta, was expected to win the election, which is a rerun of an August poll that was annulled by the Supreme Court. Local media were reporting a low voter turnout, with pictures circulating online of some empty stations.
