A humpback whale and her calf were rescued off the Gold Coast after becoming tangled in nets on Thursday, October 25. The rescue effort began at about 6:30 am in cooperation with the Queensland Boating and Fisheries Department, My Gold Coast reported. “This was a delicate rescue operation with both animals heavily entangled with the mother holding the calf up so it could breathe. Thankfully both animals were released successfully,” Sea World Director of Marine Sciences Trevor Long said. Credit: Sea World via Storyful
