A brush fire broke out near a highway in Ventura County on Tuesday, October 24, prompting the closure of the motorway and the evacuation of nearby neighborhoods and a school. The Vista fire, which burned 117 acres north of the county, was reported at around 10:40 am. By 7:10 pm, the blaze was 50 percent contained and residents of Casitas Springs, who were voluntarily evacuated, returned home at night. A late-October record-breaking heat wave had been affecting southern California, causing several fires in the region. Credit: Facebook/Jeremiah Byerley via Storyful
