A brush fire broke out near a highway in Ventura County on Tuesday, October 24, prompting the closure of the motorway and the evacuation of a school and nearby neighborhoods. The Vista Fire, which burned 117 acres north of the county, was reported at around 10:40 am. By 7:10 pm, the blaze was 50 percent contained and residents of Casitas Springs, who were voluntarily evacuated, returned home at night. This video shows the fire along Highway 33, which connects the cities of Ventura and Ojai.  A late-October record-breaking heat wave has been affecting southern California, causing several fires in the region.
