A nurse in Ashe County, North Carolina, was commended for her determination to get to work to help deliver two babies despite flooded local roads, forcing her to hike up a ridge to make her way to the hospital. Maggie McNeill took off on foot after arranging a ride to pick her up at the top of a nearby hill, and her husband’s video of her setting out has earned her praise online. Todd McNeill called his wife’s actions “seriously awesome,” and said in the video, “She’s climbing a rock cliff to get up there to the highway where she’s going to catch a ride to town and deliver Ashe County’s two newest citizens.” In a Facebook post, Laura Lambeth, CEO of Ashe Memorial Hospital, said: “I am not surprised of her dedication and going the extra mile for her patients. She does it every day.” Credit: Facebook/Todd McNeill via Storyful
