The Bureau of Meteorology warned southeast Queenslanders to brace for hail and damaging winds on October 23 as thunderstorms rolled through the region. The bureau issued warning for the southeast coast of the Sunshine State, from Gold Coast up to Gympie, with the most severe advisories for Toowoomba and Lockyer Valley. The Courier Mail reported that the Brisbane CBD received some light rainfall on Monday morning, but as the day progressed large hailstones and funnel clouds were spotted further west of the capital city.
