Ex-Hurricane Ophelia Blows Roof Off School Gym in Cork

The roof of a gym at Douglas Community School, in Cork, was torn away by high winds as ex-Hurricane Ophelia hit Ireland on October 16. Three people were reported to have been killed by the late afternoon. Met √Čireann, the Irish weather service, warned that Ophelia was likely to be the most severe weather event to hit the country in over 50 years. RTE News reported that more than 100,000 homes were without electricity, while transport services across the country were stopped. Dublin Airport had to cancel 135 flights.
