Ex-Hurricane Ophelia churned the waters off the west coast of Ireland on October 16, causing a swell at Salthill, Galway. Local officials were prompted to warn people to stay away from the sea. Met Éireann, the Irish weather service, warned that Ophelia was likely to be the most severe weather event to hit the country in over 50 years. The UK’s Met Office noted that Ophelia had been downgraded to an ex-hurricane, but said it would still bring “significant impacts to Northern Ireland and western and northern Britain.” Credit: Facebook/The Latin Quarter Galway via Storyful
