The NASA Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) mission is the first coordinated international satellite network dedicated to measuring global precipitation from space. Launched in 2014, the mission involves a partnership between NASA and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), as well as several other international partners.

The GPM Core Observatory, equipped with advanced radar and radiometer instruments, provides unprecedented three-dimensional views of global precipitation, including rain and snowfall. By collecting data on precipitation patterns around the world, the mission contributes to a better understanding of Earth's water and energy cycles, as well as the dynamics of extreme weather events such as hurricanes, typhoons, and monsoons.
