Japan’s Mount Shinmoedake erupted on the morning of Wednesday, October 11, the first time the mountain has erupted since 2011. The Japan Meteorological Agency raised their eruption alert level to 3, one step below an evacuation warning, and said the area had been shaken repeatedly by volcanic earthquakes in the past month.
