Volunteers flocked to the Las Vegas Strip to help complete a healing garden ahead of its opening on October 6. The garden officially opened that evening, attracting a large number of mourners for the victims of the Mandalay Bay shooting, during which 58 people were killed and 489 wounded while attending a country music festival, Route 91 Harvest, near the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. Las Vegas City tweeted that the garden had taken four days to complete from “drawing to real life”. The Las Vegas Art District stated on Facebook: “It is dedicated to the victims of the horrific event and features a wall of remembrance, a grove of trees, shrubs, flowers and walkways of pavers and benches. Everything was donated and installed by local companies, organizations and individuals wanting to create something beautiful in the aftermath of the horrific event. It is the hope that this garden, created by the community for the community, will provide a place for the community to heal.” Credit: Instagram/tiffanyvancott via Storyful
