Football fans cheered as a paper airplane “scored” during England and Slovenia’s World Cup Qualifiers match at London’s Wembley Stadium on October 5. A number of paper planes were hurled onto the pitch, but not all managed to fly into the goal, as seen in the video. England sealed their place at the 2018 World Cup in Russia with a 1-0 win over Slovenia.

The borefest took a very unusual turn when cameras caught a paper airplane sliding down towards the field, shot by someone from the English supporters. It wouldn’t be a first for a pilotless aircraft to make an appearance on a football match played at Wembley between England and some other poor sods. Only this time, the paper aircraft managed to score for the home team!

Video from Andy Houston who was at the game shows one paper airplane slowly making its way into one of the goals, resulting in arguably the biggest roar from the crowd of the whole evening. How about that, Harry Keane...

Houston reckons the paper airplane was sent all the way from the top tier.

"You know England are ***** when a plane landing in the net gets the biggest cheer." was one of the tweets sent during the game, graphically describing the atmosphere at Wembley.

It seems like this tweet sums up the Thursday night match perfectly: Paid £35 quid and traveled for 4 hours to Wembley to watch a paper plane throwing competition. England are absolute dross.”
