Farming is one of the most physically demanding occupations of all. While Apricot Lane Farms has seen a lot of excellent farmhands, none have been as memorable as Chris Koch.

Born without hands or legs, Chris cannot legally drive and requires 400% more energy to do what most consider menial tasks, like brushing our teeth. Nonetheless, he has been farming his entire life.

Chris was born a healthy baby boy despite his missing limbs. Within hours of his birth, and without any hesitation, Chris’ grandmother cracked a lighthearted joke, pointing out that “Bruce (his father) never did finish anything he started.”

It was his grandmother’s dry and quirky sense of humor that attributed to the fact that Chris found it “quite easy” to grow up without arms and legs.

Chris grew up riding tractors on his family farm in Alberta, Canada, but by the age of 9 he wanted to drive the tractors himself. Because of the immense of amount of independence bestowed on Chris by his family, he even refused to wear his prosthetic arms at school.
