Protesters stopped traffic in downtown St Louis on September 28 when they rallied at an intersection where dozens of people were arrested days earlier. On September 17, at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Tucker Boulevard, police used kettling, a tactic used to cordon off and corral members of a group, to arrest more than 120 people. Two of those arrested were documentary filmmakers that sued the city of St Louis and three police officers, alleging they were arrested for being journalists, St Louis Dispatch-Post reported. Daily demonstrations began in St Louis after former police officer Jason Stockley, who is white, was found not guilty in the fatal shooting of Anthony Lamar Smith, who is black.
