Mexico’s Popocatepetl volcano roared back to life on Saturday, September 24, with two explosions that came hours after a powerful earthquake disrupted rescue and relief work in Mexico City. The National Center for Disaster Prevention (CENAPRED) issued a yellow warning for the volcano after the volcano spewed an ash cloud that rose to 6,500 feet in the air over Puebla state. Hours earlier a magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck Oaxaca state, causing rescuers to temporarily suspend the search for survivors of Tuesday’s deadly quake in Mexico City and Puebla state.
