Three earthquakes with epicenters in Oaxaca hit in the morning on September 23, sending residents in Mexico City into the streets. The National Seismological Service said the largest of the three earthquakes had a magnitude of 6.1. Mexican authorities said the earthquake caused a bridge to collapse in Asunción Ixtaltepec in Oaxaca, which had already been damaged in the previous earthquakes. A 7.1-magnitude earthquake rocked central Mexico on September 19, killing over 200 people, and causing extensive damage to buildings. That quake was centered more than 300km northeast of Saturday’s.
