Hundreds of mostly white demonstrators marched the streets of St Louis, Missouri, on September 21, to protest the acquittal of a white police officer who shot and killed a black man in 2011. Protests began on September 15, after a judge ruled former St Louis Police Officer Jason Stockley was not guilty of first-degree murder in the death of Anthony Lamar Smith. The protesters chanted slogans such as “white silence is violence,” and sang protest songs. Credit: Twitter/Doyle Murphy via Storyful, Riverfront Times
