St. Croix residents are facing severe devastation caused by Hurricane Maria, as seen in this footage from September 21, showing downed trees and debris scattered on roads. The storm’s impact was felt throughout the island on the evening of September 19 even though its eye missed it by around 10 miles. A curfew has been implemented in St. Croix, which is home to about “half of the US Virgin Island’s 103,000 residents,” according to Reuters. The hurricane also caused damage and power outage in Puerto Rico amd claimed at least 15 lives in the Dominican Republic, CNN reported.
