Ahead of the general election in New Zealand on September 23, politicians in the country appeared in a video to read mean tweets about themselves, featuring MPs from both sides of the political spectrum, including Prime Minister Bill English. Peter Dunne was described as a “chinless wonder,” while Green Party leader James Shaw was told to “fuck off and be stupid in private”, and Prime Minister Bill English read a tweet suggesting he has bad breath, which he promptly refuted. Taking its cue from a similar feature on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the video was produced by the University of Auckland’s Public Policy Club, a student group interested in politics.
