Hurricane Irma inundated the coast of Edgewater, Miami, on September 10, as seen in this footage. Miami avoided a direct hit from the Category 2 hurricane but powerful winds, torrential rain and storm surge toppled a construction crane, downed trees and flooded roads in the city. An estimated 10 million people lost power in Florida. Eric Silagy, the president of the state’s largest electric utility, Florida Power and Light, estimated that more than half the state is without power, The Atlantic reported.
