Marco Island was left in a state of devastation on September 11 after Hurricane Irma swept through the region with wind gusts of up to 130 mph. Naples News reported extensive damage including intense flooding, blackouts, and toppled trees as a result of the hurricane. Irma moved further inland on Sunday night, slowing the storm and weakening it to a tropical storm by Monday morning. The large storm covered north Florida Monday morning and spread into Georgia, the Carolinas, Alabama and Tennessee. Credit: Shelli and Charles Connelly via Storyful
