Germain Arena in Estero, Florida, turned into a hurricane shelter on Saturday, September 9, housing thousands of Floridians ahead of Hurricane Irma’s landfall. The storm is expected to make landfall in Florida early on Sunday. The arena opened on Saturday morning, and thousands of people formed a line which snaked around arena grounds, according to news reports.
