An 8.1 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Chiapas in southern Mexico, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported on August 8. Mexico’s civil protection agency said it was the strongest earthquake to hit the country since a 1985 tremor that toppled buildings and killed thousands, Reuters reported. This video, streamed live on September 8, shows people running onto a street in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, México, where the USGS said moderate shaking could be felt.
