A granddad of three has revealed terrifying dashcam footage of the moment his wife ‘cheated death’ in a motorway pile-up due to severe fog to show how close he came to losing the love of his life. The bone-chilling footage shows why it is important to slow down when you enter a fog, as Leticia Heys had to slam on the brakes to avoid colliding with the cars that just kept piling up in the M65 in Lancashire.

The woman drove her Audi TT Quatro straight into a fog that just kept getting thicker and thicker. Mere moments later, bright red stop lights can be seen through the batter and she starts slowing down, stopping right behind a blue Ford Fiesta, but not before a charcoal Peugeot slams into the black car on the right, shredding its rear to pieces. Another car, a white Mercedes, slams through the pileup and pinballs between the car and the truck out front, before disappearing into the fog.

Leticia was quick to think and get away from the site, pulling up on the hard shoulder and just in the nick of time, because a huge semi halts sharply in the place where her Audi had stopped. If she waited a few minutes later, she could have been smeared on the tarmac.

Reports say that among the injured was a woman in her 60s who suffered suspected leg wounds while two men were also taken to hospital. All three lanes were shut on the westbound carriageway for around two hours as accident investigators attended the scene.
