Hurricane Irma raked across the island of Anguilla on Wednesday, September 6. The powerful Category 5 ripped off rooftops, toppled trees and caused extensive damage to infrastructure on the sparsely populated, upmarket tourist island. The eye of the strongest recorded Atlantic Ocean storm passed just southwest of the British territory. At least 9 people were killed across several Caribbean islands, with tiny Barbuda left “barely habitable.” Footage by a resident on Anguilla shows the aftermath of the storm on Wednesday.
