The eye of Hurricane Irma passed over the northwestern US Virgin Islands on September 6, causing widespread damage. Video shows downed trees at a property in St Thomas, after the Category 5 storm hit on Wednesday afternoon. Local media reported wind gusts reached 89 mph on the island, while the National Hurricane Center said said the hurricane brought overall maximum sustained winds of 185mph.
