The US military moved assets into place on Tuesday, September 5, ahead of Hurricane Irma’s expected arrival in Florida later this week. The Category 5 storm is currently bearing down on the Leeward Islands of the Caribbean. The National Hurricane Center said it was increasingly likely that the Florida Keys and the peninsula would see a direct impact from the storm, but it was still too early to accurately predict Irma’s path. Florida Gov Rick Scott activated a preparedness team from the National Guard on Tuesday and ordered 7,000 members of the guard to report on Friday. Credit: Twitter/John Haywood via Storyful
