A possible microburst hit Santa Barbara on Sunday afternoon, September 3, bringing high winds and intense winds to the city’s waterfront. The Santa Barbara Independent reported that 56 people were rescued from the harbor after the storm capsized sailboats and kayaks. The storm, which generated winds of up to 80 mph, downed trees and damaged homes elsewhere in the city. This video filmed at Stearns Wharf shows flagpoles breaking under the strain of the wind.
