Fuel that ignited from a car doing burnouts at a central Australian motor event on September 3 burned spectators, after the flash fire sprayed into the crowd of onlookers. ABC reported 11 people were injured, with many suffering from serious burns to limbs and faces. At least one person remains in a critical condition. The incident occurred at about 3.45 pm during the Red Centre NATS event, according to NT News. A competition car was demonstrating a burnout on the tracks on Sunday afternoon at the Alice Springs Inland Dragway when the flames soared through the fence line and onto spectators. A Facebook live video shows several people running back to safety as the flames spread. The event organisers said they cancelled the event in light of safety concerns.
