Kurnell Bushfire Seen From Plane Landing at Sydney Airport

A raging bushfire was captured on film from above by a passenger flying into Sydney Airport on September 3. More than 350 hectares of bushland was destroyed overnight by fire at the Botany Bay National Park in Kurnell, south of Sydney. Firefighters sharing updates from the scene said about 140 firefighters were in attendance and the fire was within containment lines but not yet contained. More crews will arrive later on Monday, September 4. According to the Rural Fire Service, the fire began on Saturday afternoon, September 2, and it had burned close to an oil refinery.
