An explosion was reported at a flooded Arkema chemical plant in Crosby, Texas, on September 1, after Tropical Storm Harvey devastated the region. According to local reports, officials warned of fires and explosions at the ammonia plant after flooding knocked out power to coolant systems used to refrigerate volatile chemicals. Harris County officials also reported two explosions and black smoke at the plant the day before, according to Arkema. An evacuation zone of 1.5 miles had already been established around the plant, the statement said. Credit: Facebook/Joe Olivarez via Storyful
