A brush fire in the Los Angeles foothills shut down Freeway 210 and triggered evacuations on Friday, September 1. A 12-mile stretch of the highway was closed down after the La Tuna Fire jumped the road, the Los Angeles Times reported. A shift in the wind blew embers across the highway, triggering the fire to spread, the report said. The fire had the potential to burn 2,000 acres.
