Large swathes of fire ants have been captured floating in clumps in the Tropical Storm Harvey floodwaters in Texas. This video was shot by local reporter Mike Hixenbaugh on August 28 and shows a colony near his home in Eldridge in Houston. The fire ants do not drown when it floods and instead will grab onto each other and float, a news report said. The floating colonies can have up to 100,000 ants.
