Good Samaritans Navigate Flooded Houston Streets by Boat, Assist in Water Rescues

Good Samaritans in Houston navigated the city’s flooded streets by boat on Monday, August 28, rescuing trapped civilians. This footage, courtesy of Shields of Strength, a jewelry company based out of Beaumont, shows the boat of company founder Kenny Vaughan and his small rescue crew. Vaughan was asked by the Sheriff’s office to help rescue families trapped in Lockwood’s Houston area, according to Marcia Davis, media manager for Shields of Strength. As of the evening of August 28, 1,000 people have been rescued from the Houston area by local police, while the Coast Guard assisted in rescuing 3,000. Credit: Shields of Strength via Storyful
