Officials in Dickinson, Texas, issued a mandatory evacuation order on Monday, August 28, amid the flooding triggered by Tropical Storm Harvey. Residents were directed to the American Red Cross to find a shelter. “This evacuation order is being established because of a combination of several factors, including the fragile infrastructure within the city due to the storm flooding, the limited utilities available at this time and current continued forecast track of Hurricane Harvey,” police said in a Facebook post. Nearly three feet of rain has fallen in some areas in the last 72 hours, according to the National Weather Service, with an additional 12 inches forecasted to fall through Tuesday.
