At least 10 demonstrators were arrested during a rally in Berkeley, California, on Sunday, August 27, according to police. The rally, which protested “the hateful currents in American society,”, turned violent after people jumped barricades and started fighting with counter-protesters. Other user-generated videos from the rally shows demonstrators brawling, and smoke bombs being set off. This video shows an apparent arrest. The uploader, Pawanveer Kaur Deo, told Storyful that “seeing this man get arrested for peacefully protesting was so heartbreaking. Growing up I was told that the police will always be on your side, they will protect me from the bad, but it turns out they aren’t so much on the good side themselves.” Credit: Pawanveer Kaur Deol via Storyful
