Revellers at the Notting Hill Carnival observed a minute’s silence for those who lost their lives in the fire that ripped through the residential Grenfell Tower in London’s borough of Kensington in June. At least 80 people died in the blaze. Floats along Ladbroke Grove turned down their sound systems and onlookers fell silent to remember the dead, before bursting out in cheers and applause.
