Police Close Amsterdam Street After Hand Grenade Found in Doorway

Police in Amsterdam said they evacuated a street in the city center on Thursday morning, August 24, after a hand grenade was discovered in a doorway. In a statement, police said the device was discovered by people cleaning Amstel Street at 8.30 am. Police evacuated some residents from the area as experts from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit were called in to inspect the device.
