Two rescued sea lions shared a kiss on a California beach before running into the ocean to return home on Sunday, August 20. The Pacific Marine Mammal Center released the two sea lions, Niblet and Omaha, and a harbor seal, Wonder Woman. Niblet was the third animal rescued by the center in 2017, being taken in at Huntington Beach on January 4. She was 19 pounds when rescued and required extra care because of her state. She weighed 65 pounds when released. Rescued on May 28th in Laguna Beach at 26.4 pounds, Omaha was deemed a good candidate for satellite tagging. This will allow the center and the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society to monitor him after release and collect data to compare to that from sea lions tagged in 2013. Omaha weighed 75 pounds upon his release. The most critically sick of the three, Wonder Woman suffered from low glucose levels and was experiencing seizures. She weighed 20.4 pounds when rescued from Newport Beach, but was released at 75 pounds. Credit: YouTube/Pacific Marine Mammal Center via Storyful
